GETTING THERE

For All Racers/Riders

There are several public car parks off the main promenade behind DreamLand, you can park in any of these (simple Pay & Display), then follow the signs to walk your bike on to the beach, via the beach ramp, next to the double decker red bus, next to the Sun Deck. No race machines can be started until you are on the sands and instructed by Marshalls to head to The Pit.

Public Transport

The train from London only takes an hour and brings you right to the beach, once you get out of the station, head for the beach and the sound of motorcycles.

Parking

Please use the public car parks in Margate (behind and next to DreamLand are closest). Do not park on the Main Promenade, cars/bikes will be towed by the council.

PROTECTING THE BEACH

We have been working with Thanet Council over the last 5 years to create a continuously evolving environmental plan that ensures The Malle Beach Race leaves the beach in a better condition than when we arrived. In 2022 we brought in Marine Biologists to study the beach environment, the sands and the surrounding area to ensure the event has a positive impact and leaves only smiles, footprints and tyre prints on the sand… which are under the sea again as high tide comes in.

On the beach race weekend, 75% of the beach is cordoned off for the race, with only 2 bikes racing at a time, a stark contrast in comparison to a bank holiday weekend in Margate where there could be 10,000+ people across every inch of the beach, the event almost gives the beach a weekends rest.

The marine biologists have also documented that the first few inches of sand on the lower section of beach are very poor for fauna and sea-life (except for microscopic bacteria). The impression of foot-prints or tyre-prints has minimal impact on the sands ecology, as this area is well adapted to living in frequently disturbed conditions, with storms and powerful waves.

Our environmental marshals are also on hand to ensure that Margate beach is left in a better condition than when we arrive, with continuous litter sweeps throughout the weekend. More and more of our younger racers are bringing electric race machines, which is really exciting to see too, as multiple generations of riders get to ride and race together.

Like The Malle Mile Festival the entire event is plastic free, all drinks are served in aluminium containers, which are infinity recyclable. Before and after the race weekend, the entirety of Margate Sands is combed by our dedicated Marshall team, removing any and all debris and rubbish from the beach and recycling it safely.
